The monthly magazine Talks and Tales and its Yiddish counterpart Shmuessen Mit Kinder Un Yungt, publications of the Lubavitch educational arm, Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch, first began appearing in 1942. It continued uninterrupted publication for 48 years. Under the skillful editorial leadership of the late author, educator and lecturer, Dr. Nissan Mindel, Talks and Shmuessen (each with varied content) became familiar names in thousands of Jewish homes and schools.
Internationally popular and acclaimed, Talks and Tales appeared, Talks and Tales appeared simultaneously in several languages. Aside from the English and Yiddish versions, they were published in French, Spanish and Hebrew.
Monthly content usually included Jewish festival information, historical events, lessons from the weekly sidrah, and a story. Some of the regular columns included: My Prayer; Let's Visit...; The Gallery of Our Great; The Curiosity Corner; In Nature's Wonderland; and Things to Remember.
