The Lubavitcher Rebbe is famed for his Farbrengens (gatherings), where he would pour out the wellsprings of Chassidus to large audiences for hours on end. His Sichos (talks) combine the revealed and hidden parts Torah, a seamless blend of law, parables, philosophy, mysticism, ethical thought and Chassidic insight, all tending to definite conclusions in action and attitude, a clear path in human life and in the service of G-d.
Offering insightful and multidimensional interpretations of the weekly Torah portion of the current festival or special events on the Jewish calendar.
Hanachot (transcriptions) of these talks were prepared soon afterwards by the Chozrim, auditors gifted with exceptional memories. From the year 5718/1958 and onward, selections from the hanachot began to appear before every Shabbat and Festival in booklet form, after having been submitted to the Rebbe for review and correction, and continued to appear for many years. These were collected to form Likkutei Sichos (Selected Talks), a series of thirty-nine volumes. In some volumes the Sichos appear in Yiddish, others in Hebrew. |
