DISPATCHES FROM THE EARLY CHABAD-LUBAVITCH SUMMER VISITATION PROGRAM
Long before Jewish outreach spread across the globe, two young Lubavitch rabbinical students spent their summers traveling through Central America on a simple but profound mission: to seek out fellow Jews and strengthen Jewish life wherever they could.
Their journeys took them to Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Mexico, where they encountered vibrant communities, rich traditions, inspiring individuals, and moments that revealed the deep and enduring bond of the Jewish people.
Originally published as a series in The Jewish Press, these dispatches are filled with warmth, humor, and insight. Rabbi Moshe Feller brings readers along on these remarkable journeys, capturing the human encounters and spiritual sparks that marked the early days of Chabad-Lubavitch efforts to strengthen Jewish life. The innovative visitation program he describes continues to this very day.
We Travel to Educate offers a rare glimpse into a pioneering chapter of Jewish history—and a powerful reminder that even the smallest effort to reach another Jew can change lives.
